Olla de autorriego - Cruda

My herbs stopped wilting the day I buried this olla in the pot. The clay seeps water straight to the roots, so I just refill it every week or so and forget about it. Genuinely the laziest way to keep plants alive.

I was skeptical about the whole ancient irrigation thing, but my basil has never looked better. The clay seeps water so slowly the soil stays evenly damp instead of soaking and drying out. Filling it once a week is all it takes.

I stuck this in my tomato bed before a two-week trip and came home to plants that looked better than when I left. The clay seeps water slowly enough that the soil stays damp but never soggy, which is exactly what my herbs needed. Wish I'd bought one years ago.
